JR PAT Testing is growing rapidly across the UK and we are looking for experienced PAT Engineers. The role is self‑employed and you must have your own insurance and calibrated equipment.

The position is based in Ashford, but we are national. It involves travelling to a range of sites—from hospitals to retail outlets—to conduct portable appliance testing (PAT). Work is flexible and can be part‑time or full‑time. Earnings are on a pro‑rate basis, based on the number of tests, rate per appliance and job dynamics.

Responsibilities

  • Pack and transport testing equipment and record books to each site.
  • Conduct PAT testing on appliances such as microwaves, kettles, computers and other electrical items.
  • Inform users of results, explain safety findings and recommend repairs or replacements.
  • Complete test reports, completion certificates, checklists and any other required paperwork.
  • Maintain equipment in good working condition, calibrating as required.
  • Travel to multiple locations in a day, either independently or as part of a team.

Qualifications

  • City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or equivalent.
  • Proven competence in line with C&G standards.
  • Reliable, honest and a “can‑do” attitude.
  • Own transport and ability to travel within a reasonable commuting distance of Ashford (or further if willing).
  • Self‑employed status with own insurance.
