JR PAT Testing, a fast‑growing PAT and compliance company, is seeking experienced PAT Engineers to join our team in Highbury. The role is self‑employed, offers flexible hours, and can be part‑time or full‑time. All engineers must own their own insurance and keep their testing equipment calibrated at least once a year.
Responsibilities
- Conduct portable appliance testing (PAT) on a variety of sites, including hospitals, retail outlets, and other workplaces.
- Use test instruments to assess electrical safety of appliances such as microwaves, kettles and computers.
- Inform users of results, explain findings, and recommend repairs or replacements when necessary.
- Record test findings accurately in a dedicated PAT test report book or through an electronic system.
- Complete all required paperwork, including completion certificates and checklists.
- Maintain organisation and efficiency while travelling independently or as part of a team between sites.
Qualifications and Requirements
- City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or an equivalent qualification.
- Proven competence in line with the City & Guilds 2377 standard.
- Reliable, honest, and possessing a "can‑do" attitude.
- Own insurance and calibrated testing equipment.
- Ability to commute within a reasonable distance of Highbury, with the option to travel nationally.
Compensation
Payments are discussed at the time of booking and are pro‑rated based on the number of appliances tested, the rate per appliance, and the job dynamics. Earnings vary from one‑day projects to long‑term contracts.
