JR PAT Testing is growing rapidly across the UK and we seek experienced PAT Engineers with the necessary equipment and insurance. If you are self‐employed or wish to become self‐employed, we would like to hear from you. Our onboarding process starts with a friendly conversation. All our engineers must have their own insurance and have their equipment calibrated at least once a year. In return, along with our engineer handbook, contract for services and branded clothing, we supply labels and technical support.

Job Overview

JR PAT Testing is an expanding PAT and Compliance Company currently looking for engineers to join our team in Pembrokeshire. We offer self‐employed positions with flexible hours, allowing interested individuals to work either part‐time or full‐time. Although we understand that some may travel further afield, we require that all applicants have a reasonable commuting distance to Pembrokeshire or closer. This role offers potential earnings on a pro‐rata basis depending on the rate per appliance, the number of tests and job dynamics. Our jobs range from one‐day projects to long‐term contracts, allowing us to discuss all details and determine what works best for you.

Typical Day

As a PAT engineer each day changes. You will pack up all the necessary tools and equipment—including testers, record books, and any additional tools—into the van before setting off to the first job. On site you will test appliances such as microwaves, kettles and computers that require PAT testing. You will use various test instruments to check whether electrical items are safe for continued use or need to be replaced or repaired. You will inform users of the results and explain why certain appliances may be unfit for use. When testing is complete, you will record your findings in a dedicated PAT test report book or an electronic system and provide employers with a copy. You may also be required to fill out additional paperwork such as completion certificates and checklists. Throughout the day, you'll be constantly on the move from one location to another – either alone or as part of a team – so it's important to stay organized and make sure all tests are completed accurately and efficiently.

  • Employment Type: Self‐employed positions for engineers from any background.
  • Education Level: City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or equivalent.

  • Commute: Reasonable distance to Pembrokeshire; engineers may travel further.
  • Salary: Earnings discussed when booking a job.
  • Equipment: Must have your own PAT testing instruments, measuring devices, and additional tools kept up to date and in good working order, meeting relevant regulations.
  • Insurance: Each engineer must have appropriate insurance.
  • Attitude: Reliable, honest, and a 'can‐do' attitude.
