JR PAT Testing is growing rapidly across the UK. We are looking for experienced PAT Engineers to join our team in Edgware Road. Positions are self‑employed. All our engineers must have their own insurance, equipment that is calibrated at least once a year, and hold a City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or equivalent.

Employment Type: Self‑employed.

Education Level: City & Guilds 2377 PAT or equivalent.

Months Experience: Proven competence in line with the C&G.

Job Location: Edgware Road & commutable areas.

Commute: Reasonable commuting distance or closer; engineers may travel as far as they wish.

Salary: Discussed when booking a job (pro‑rate basis based on rate per appliance, number of tests, etc.).

Job Description: As a PAT Engineer you will be responsible for conducting electrical safety testing on a wide range of appliances in various settings, from hospitals to retail outlets. You will need to use testing instruments, maintain equipment, interpret results, and provide reports and completion certificates. You will travel to client sites, record findings in a dedicated PAT test report book or electronic system, and explain results to users. Accurate record‑keeping and adherence to relevant regulations are essential. The work includes packing tools and equipment into your van and performing tests on appliances such as microwaves, kettles and computers, ensuring all appliances are safe for continued use. You may work part‑time or full‑time, with flexible hours. The role requires reliable, honest, and proactive individuals with a 'can‑do' attitude, who keep all equipment up‑to‑date and maintain a good working order.

A typical day of a portable appliance testing (PAT) engineer: On any given day, a PAT tester packs necessary tools and equipment into their van and travels to the first client site. Tests are performed on a variety of appliances. The tester informs users of results and possible necessary actions. Findings are recorded in a PAT test report book or electronically and optionally completion certificates and checklists are completed. Throughout the day, the tester moves between locations, sometimes alone or in a team, staying organised and ensuring accurate and efficient completion of all tests.
