JR PAT Testing is a rapidly growing PAT and Compliance Company based in West Suffolk, looking for experienced PAT Engineers to join our self‑employed team. Flexible hours allow part‑time or full‑time work.

- Education Level: City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or equivalent
- Required Experience: Proven competence in line with the City & Guilds 2377
- Location: West Suffolk or commutable areas; engineers may travel nationally
- Salary: Discussed per job; earnings on a pro‑rate basis based on rate per appliance and number of tests
Responsibilities
- Travel to client sites (hospitals, retail outlets, offices) to conduct portable appliance testing (PAT)
- Inspect, test, and record the condition of electrical appliances using calibrated test instruments
- Interpret test results, advise on safety and replacement requirements, and provide clear explanations to users
- Maintain detailed test reports, completion certificates, and checklists in a dedicated paper book or electronic system
- Ensure all testing equipment is calibrated at least annually and kept up to date and compliant with regulations
- Operate and drive a van/truck carrying necessary tools, record books, and backup equipment
- Communicate effectively with clients and team members, coordinating schedules and job details
Qualifications & Skills
- Valid City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or equivalent
- Own reliable transport and a qualified PAT testing machine
- Public liability insurance (or ability to obtain)
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Good customer‑service attitude, honesty, and reliability
