JRL Group's East Midlands offsite manufacturing facilities, conveniently located adjacent to the A1 in Carlton on Trent, between Retford and Newark.
McMullen Facades, part of the JRL Group, is a leading specialist in the design and manufacture of high-quality architectural facades for prestigious commercial and residential projects across the UK and Ireland. Due to sustained growth at our manufacturing facility, we are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Quality Inspector to join our internal Quality Control team.
Main Purpose of the Role:
The Quality Inspector is fully responsible for ensuring that all manufactured goods and incoming components comply strictly with project-specific quality standards, manufacturing drawings, and product specifications. This role operates within the manufacturing facility, ensuring continuous compliance throughout the production cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess the quality and accuracy of all incoming components against engineering drawings and product specifications.
- Complete all incoming material inspections within 3 working days of receipt at the facility.
- Formally log and advise suppliers of any instances of material non-compliance within 7 days of receipt.
- Inspect structural and architectural elements including fabricated mild/stainless steel assemblies, PPC aluminium extrusions, shadow pans, galvanised mild steel back pans, double-glazed units, and slab/hook bracket assemblies.
- Ensure no materials are released into production without prior quality sign-off.
- Inspect machined profiles and components prior to the commencement of the fabrication process.
- Monitor factory floor activities to ensure production complies with GHF quality assurance documentation.
- Audit and verify the quality checks undertaken by departmental team leaders.
- Verify technical compliance by checking individual fixings with specified torque settings at each production stage.
- Maintain detailed photographic records throughout the inspection process and conduct final visual inspections prior to product dispatch.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Quality Inspector within a manufacturing, structural steel, facade, or heavy engineering environment.
- Proficient in reading and accurately interpreting technical manufacturing and fabrication drawings.
- Solid understanding of multi-stage QA documentation, hold points, and torque setting verification procedures.
- Methodical approach with excellent organizational, reporting, and written communication skills.
- Confident communicator capable of professionally managing supplier non-conformance issues.
