Trent Precast are looking for a reliable and hardworking Loading Operative to join their yard and logistics team on a permanent basis. This role is key to ensuring precast concrete units are handled, moved, and dispatched safely and efficiently.
Location and hours
- Location: Skelmersdale
- Working hours: Monday β Friday, 7am β 5pm
- Pay rate: Β£14
Key Responsibilities Of a Loading Operative
- Load and unload precast concrete units safely, including slinging, securing, and preparing loads for transport.
- Operate shunter vehicles and telehandlers to move trailers, precast units, and materials around the yard.
- Assist with the organisation of the yard to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Maintain safe walkways, clear access routes, and tidy working areas at all times.
- Follow all health and safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Work closely with colleagues, drivers, and supervisors to meet production and delivery schedules.
- Carry out general yard duties as required to support the wider operation.
Key Requirements Of a Loading Operative
- Previous experience in a yard, loading, construction, or precast environment.
- Experience operating telehandlers, shunters, or similar plant equipment is a MUST.
- Good understanding of health and safety, particularly around lifting operations.
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn new skills and take instruction from supervisors.
- Slinger/Signaller trained - CPCS (A40) or NPORS equivalent.
- Must be qualified and able to DRIVE A SHUNTER, TELEHANDLER.
