Spearheading the JRL Group from the outset, J Reddington Ltd have been an industry leading groundwork and concrete (RC) frame specialist for over two decades. Building on a proven track record to date, the company is now increasingly being called upon to deliver solutions on larger projects in London and the South East providing the core to the business. J Reddington is the Civil and Structural direct delivery construction arm of the JRL group. We have an in-house team, capable of the design and build of: piling, deep basements, drainage, civils and structural RC frames. We work both in the external market for key clients and for Midgard on internal self-delivered projects.
About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Formwork Designer with strong PERI system knowledge to support the delivery of complex concrete structures across infrastructure, commercial, and civil engineering projects. The role involves producing safe, economical, and buildable formwork and falsework solutions in line with project requirements, PERI standards, and relevant codes of practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop formwork and falsework solutions using PERI systems (e.g. VARIO, TRIO, MAXIMO, SKYDECK, MULTIFLEX, ACS, RCS)
- Produce detailed formwork drawings, calculations, and design reports
- Liaise with project engineers, site teams, temporary works coordinators, and PERI technical support
- Carry out load assessments, stability checks, and temporary works designs in accordance with BS EN, Eurocodes, and company procedures
- Optimise designs for cost efficiency, safety, and constructability
- Provide technical support during construction, including design modifications and site queries
- Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, health & safety standards, and PERI guidelines
- Attend design reviews, coordination meetings, and site visits as required
- Support junior designers and contribute to continuous improvement of design processes
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven experience as a Formwork / Temporary Works Designer
- Strong hands-on experience with PERI formwork systems
- Competent in AutoCAD (2D); Revit / BIM experience desirable
- Experience producing design calculations (manual and/or software-based)
- Solid understanding of reinforced concrete construction methods
- Familiarity with temporary works procedures and design checking processes
- Ability to interpret structural drawings and specifications
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple design packages
Qualifications
- Degree or HND in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related discipline
- Temporary Works Coordinator/Designer training (desirable)
- Membership of ICE / IStructE (desirable but not essential)
