Graduate Sales Trainee – Medical Devices
Making an impact from day one
JRI Orthopaedics is a British manufacturer with over 50 years of innovation that has helped shape global orthopaedic practice. Our focus is simple: deliver the best possible clinical outcomes for every patient. That commitment is reflected in the results reported for our products and drives our continuous investment in new technologies.
This is a rewarding opportunity to join a UK medical device manufacturer at the sharp end of patient care. The graduate role blends clinical exposure with commercial training: time in operating theatres and clinics, direct support for surgeons and scrub teams, and a structured pathway to a career in a dynamic industry.
The role
- In-theatre case support (observational, non-scrub): Guide product and instrumentation use, check kit availability, and help cases run safely and smoothly.
- Education & training: Coach theatre staff on set-up, instrumentation flow, and IFU compliance; help deliver workshops and cadaveric sessions.
- Customer service: Function as a trusted contact for surgeons, ODPs, scrub nurses, and sterile services; capture feedback and escalate issues quickly.
- Logistics & readiness: Coordinate loaner sets, trays, and implants; verify counts, sterilisation status, and traceability.
- Quality & compliance: Work to ISO 13485, MDR, MHRA and local hospital protocols; contribute to post-market surveillance and incident reporting.
- Commercial awareness: Observe territory planning and learn how clinical value supports sustainable growth.
Rotations provide broad exposure and real responsibility:
- Clinical & Education: Theatre shadowing and case coverage; surgeon education.
- Manufacturing & Engineering: Factory immersion; process insight; design rationale.
- Quality, Regulatory & Clinical Affairs: Device safety, vigilance, evidence generation.
- Commercial & Marketing: Territory fundamentals, product positioning, analytics.
Mentorship, product certifications and ongoing CPD lead toward Clinical Specialist, with progression routes into Territory or Product Management.
About you
- 2:1 (or above) degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering, Life Sciences, Sports Science, Nursing/ODP, or Business with strong healthcare interest.
- Clear, confident communicator who remains calm in high-stakes clinical environments.
- Logical, detail-driven, and safety-minded; comfortable with checklists and SOPs.
- Full UK driving licence; willing to travel, with early starts/occasional out-of-hours work around theatre lists.
- Eligible to work in the UK.
What is on offer
- Competitive salary, company car/allowance, bonus, pension, and Westfield Health cover.
- Intensive training, mentorship, and funded professional development.
- Work that matters—supporting surgeons and improving patient outcomes.
- Friendly, hands-on culture with real ownership and progression.
