Job Description:
Salary: Up to £27,000 pro rata per annum, dependent on skills and experience, for 24 hours per week (0.6 FTE). The full-time equivalent salary is up to £45,000 per annum.
Reports to: Head of School / Programme Leader
Hours of work: 24 hours per week (0.6 FTE), including weekends (Saturday and Sunday, 9am-6pm), and an additional day or 8 hours during the week for marking and responsibilities.
Location: Flexible across all campuses, including Holborn, Great Titchfield Street, Wembley, Kingsbury, and Southall.
Overall Purpose
The Lecturer will design, develop, and deliver learning and teaching materials across modules or within a subject area, ensuring student engagement, achievement, and a high-quality experience. The role may involve hybrid teaching (face-to-face or online) and supporting students\’ learning journeys.
Responsibilities:
- Teaching and Learning: Deliver sessions, maintain attendance records, develop and update teaching materials, and improve student engagement.
- Assessment and Marking: Set and mark assessments, support assessment procedures, and provide feedback.
- Student Support: Address engagement and performance issues, support student welfare, and liaise with support services.
- Quality Assurance: Provide module evaluations, contribute to program reviews, and engage in continuous improvement activities.
- Scholarship and External Activities: Engage in scholarship to support teaching and research, and develop external networks.
- Managing People and Resources: Coordinate modules, manage projects, and support recruitment and marketing efforts.
Person Specification:
Experience & Personal Qualities: Experience in quality assurance, higher education, subject expertise, effective communication, stakeholder engagement, problem-solving, and adaptability. Strong interpersonal and networking skills, team orientation, and flexibility are essential.
Technical Knowledge & Skills: Digital literacy, IT proficiency, and ability to support technology-enhanced learning.
Education & Qualifications: Master’s degree, HEA fellowship or willingness to attain, PhD or equivalent, teaching qualification or willingness to work towards, and team leadership experience. Membership of relevant professional bodies is desirable.
Additional: Candidates must undergo a DBS check as part of the application process.
