We’re taking part in a trial of the 4-Day Working Week, meaning that you could be working one day less a week (or equivalent). 4DWW will be rolled out within our school when we have a full complement of staff, and within the next year – so there’s never been a more exciting time to join us!

Location: Crookhey Hall School, Cockerham, Nr Lancaster, LA2 0HA

Salary: £25,000 per annum (not pro rata)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4pm

Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

About the Role

We are seeking an adaptive, resourceful, and passionate Vocational Trainer responsible for facilitating learning experiences and practical skills development for individuals in various vocational and technical fields. They design and deliver instructional programs tailored to the needs of their students, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary knowledge and abilities to succeed in their chosen careers. This role requires a combination of subject matter expertise, excellent communication skills, and a dedication to fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement curriculum and training materials tailored to specific vocational subjects.
  • Assess learners' needs and customize training programs accordingly.
  • Conduct classroom and hands-on training sessions to teach essential skills and knowledge.
  • Evaluate students' progress through tests, assignments, and practical assessments.
  • Provide individual support and mentorship to help students overcome learning challenges.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements to ensure training content is current and relevant.
  • Collaborate with industry professionals to enhance training programs and provide real-world insights.
  • Maintain accurate records of students' attendance, progress, and achievements.
  • Ensure a safe and conducive learning environment, adhering to all relevant safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Instructor Qualification, Vocational Training, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a vocational training or teaching role.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional design and SEN learning principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to different learning styles and needs.
  • Proven track record of successfully training and developing individuals.
  • Familiarity with BTEC Qualifications and structures.
  • Certified in relevant vocational or technical field.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in the subject area to be taught.

Crookhey Hall School is a Social and Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) School catering for boys and girls aged 10 - 17 years. We provide young people with an educational experience that extends their academic, vocational, social skills, and abilities, while promoting personal growth and self-esteem. Our goal is for each individual to aspire to achieve their full potential and leave school ready to contribute positively to society. Crookhey Hall School is located on a 15-acre site in the countryside south of Cockerham, near Lancaster. Due to the location, it would be beneficial for candidates to have a driving license.
