Stork is recruiting for a UKAS CAT 3 Pipework Inspection Engineer based in Southampton on a permanent basis.

Annual leave: 25 + 8 Fixed Public Holiday days per annum.

Company Description: Stork, a well-known and leading supplier of asset integrity solutions, has clients in a wide range of industries across the UK. Working on both offshore and onshore sites, Stork provides services such as NDT, Inspection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and maintenance.

Role: Stork is currently looking for a UKAS RG2 category 3 Inspection Engineer to work onshore in the Southampton region. The role will involve in-service plant inspections based on a refinery plant.

Tasks and Responsibilities of an Inspection Engineer:

  • Preparation of WSEs in accordance with the Pressure System Safety Regulations (PSSR).
  • Preparation of inspection work scopes to satisfy the Written Schemes of Examination (WSE), specifying access, insulation removal and NDT requirements.
  • Carry out invasive visual examinations of major pressure systems in accordance with the WSE, including process pipework, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, distillation columns, PRVs and storage tanks.
  • Interface with the NDT team to provide clarification on NDT inspection techniques to meet integrity objectives.
  • Preparation of high-quality inspection reports, accurately describing the asset's condition.
  • Grade corrosion against company procedure corrosion scales and raise mandatory defects when acceptable limits are breached.
  • Review PRV certification to ensure the device is correctly set and overhauled/tested on a set frequency.
  • Review WSE and inspection frequency post-inspection to confirm accuracy and relevancy.
  • Participate in the Risk Based Assessment programme for pressure systems equipment.

Requirements for the Inspection Engineer Role

Essential Requirements and Experience:

  • In-service inspection experience of process piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, distillation columns, and PRVs, with knowledge of the accompanying design codes.
  • Understanding of PSSR with experience of creating work scopes to carry out examinations of major pressure systems in accordance with the WSE.
  • Successful applicants must meet the UKAS definition for category 3 inspection engineers: Category 3: Engineering Technician as defined by Engineering Council or equivalent (e.g. appropriate ONC with relevant experience, NVQ Level III) having a minimum of 5 years’ experience within a relevant discipline, of which at least one year shall have been spent working within an engineering discipline associated with the in-service inspection of pressure systems.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspection Certification.
