Senior Integration Architect

Social network you want to login/join with: 2 days week in the London Office, occasional travel to Cardiff 4 Month contract ************Financial Sector experience advantageous, understanding of pensions and investments******** A consulting client is looking for a Senior Integration Architect on a contract basis for a financial background for a financial client. Experience working in a financial institution with pensions and investments will be extremely useful for this role. The role is to support the business in optimizing workflow across 2 major workstreams (Guidance Workstreams/Microservices/Financial Planning Calculators) and Financial Advice (Optimize tool integration in order to simplify lead workflow so this team can scale). We need a self-starting Senior Integration Architect to steer the design, governance, and delivery of secure, enterprise-grade integrations across multiple platforms. You will develop solutions end-to-end with a team, guiding stakeholders from discovery through implementation while working with several Agile product teams and submitting proposals to an Architecture Board. Key responsibilities Solution ownership – Shape integration roadmaps, select appropriate patterns (REST or GraphQL APIs, event streams, microservices, ESB, iPaaS) and embed security controls such as OAuth 2.0, OIDC, mutual TLS, and understand the OWASP API Top 10. Stakeholder engagement – Translate complex architecture into plain language for product owners, finance leads, and other non-technical colleagues, clarifying scope, timelines, and resource needs. Governance and documentation – Produce concise technical proposals and executive summaries that satisfy Architecture Board scrutiny; maintain living documentation and decision records. Agile participation – Contribute to Scrum or Kanban squads by refining backlog items and supporting sprints. You should have a good understanding of the Agile development process. Commercial and product thinking – Model and communicate return on investment for integration work, highlighting opportunities such as reusable services, API, and cloud-native optimization. Cross-silo collaboration – Build relationships across a large, matrixed organization, connecting with subject-matter experts to assist you in designing the best solutions. Essential skills and experience Extensive experience delivering secure system-to-system integrations in complex enterprises. Strong knowledge of multiple integration styles (synchronous APIs, asynchronous messaging or events, file or batch, middleware) and associated security hardening. Proven ability to explain technical concepts to audiences from C-suite executives to developers. Hands-on experience working within Scrum or Kanban teams and contributing to iterative delivery. Excellent written communication, including architectural decision records, solution option papers, and executive roadmaps. Commercial awareness with the ability to link architecture choices to measurable business value. Familiarity with Zero-Trust, Privacy, and similar regulatory frameworks.
