Role Overview
A leading technical consultancy in Glasgow is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support innovative energy infrastructure projects across the UK and Ireland, focusing on the transition to net zero. The role involves providing technical expertise to developers, investors, and asset owners.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and commission electrical systems for industrial, utility, and renewable power projects.
- Manage client-facing projects, ensuring technical excellence and successful delivery.
- Work with HV (up to 400kV), MV, and LV systems, including embedded generation, protection circuits, grid connections, switchgear, and substations.
- Coordinate with UK Distribution Network Operators (DNOs).
- Conduct feasibility studies and design reviews.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and welfare standards.
- Witness site and factory acceptance testing.
- Assess manufactured or fabricated items for faults.
- Provide site-based construction monitoring.
- Collaborate within a wider electrical engineering team.
- Willingness to travel within Scotland, England, and occasionally within the EU.
About You
- Strong knowledge of HV (up to 400kV), MV, and LV systems, including grid connections, substations, switchgear, and protection circuits.
- Experience in electrical design, commissioning, and project management in industrial, utility, or renewable energy sectors.
- Proficiency in industry-standard electrical software and ability to conduct feasibility studies, design reviews, and fault assessments.
- Hands-on experience with site and factory acceptance testing, construction monitoring, and health and safety standards.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a proactive team approach and willingness to travel.
- Degree in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering.
- Post-qualification experience in industrial electrical infrastructure.
- Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.
