Element is seeking a Senior Cyber Engineer to join our growing Cyber Engineering Services team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in security engineering, responsible for safeguarding complex global environments and designing security solutions at scale. Expertise in application, cloud, and infrastructure domains is required. This hybrid role involves designing and implementing secure technical solutions to defend against cyber threats, focusing on detection engineering within Element's security tooling.
Core Responsibilities
- Design and implement technical solutions and security toolsets to address vulnerabilities, mitigate threats, and automate tasks.
- Plan, implement, and manage the security operations tooling roadmap.
- Engineer, deploy, monitor, and upgrade cybersecurity infrastructure and technologies.
- Create and maintain detection rules to identify suspicious activities and threats.
- Develop and optimize SIEM event correlation rules and logic to filter security events.
- Support transitioning project deliverables into operational services.
- Develop new security tools for vulnerability mitigation and automation.
- Maintain design documentation and procedures.
- Perform regular security checks and troubleshooting.
- Prepare operational procedures and protocols.
- Collaborate with the Cyber Defence team to uphold security practices.
- Support incident response efforts as needed.
- Assist in operational and management reporting.
Skills / Qualifications
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude and belief in 'Security as an enabler'.
- Strong intellectual agility for diverse business contexts.
- Expertise in at least one security domain: Platform Protection, Network Architecture, or Cloud Security.
- Ability to review designs, reports, and standards confidently.
- Excellent communication skills to translate technical findings to non-technical audiences.
- Up-to-date knowledge of security principles, techniques, and trends.
- Experience with networking in complex, multi-site, multinational environments.
- Knowledge of security technologies: NDR, content filtering, FW, IPS, IDS, DDoS, EDR/MDR, DAST/SAST, IAM, SIEM, SOAR, log management.
- Experience in cyber defense operations and as a Cyber Security Engineer; background as a Network or Server Engineer is beneficial.
- International and multicultural work experience.
- Proactive communication skills with staff at various levels.
- Interest or experience in working within complex, federated organizations.
- Interest in infrastructure and application support/development.
