An established and growing Oxford firm is currently recruiting for an experienced PSV Technician or HGV Mechanic / Fitter with 5+ years’ experience. This is for the maintenance, repair and refitting of coaches and light commercial fleet of vans with a large and busy company. You will be joining an excellent and experienced maintenance team maintaining vehicles in their warm, tidy, organised purpose-built workshops, located at Oxfordshire.
Duties will include:
- Carrying out vehicle servicing in accordance with company policy
- Carrying out Periodic Maintenance Inspections and repair to both company and DVSA standards
- Preparing and presenting for MOTs
- Diagnosing vehicle faults and specifying the correct method of repair and warranty claims are in line with terms
- Ensuring correct paperwork is completed and accurate records maintained in a timely manner
- Adhering to good housekeeping practices including general tidiness in the workshop and return of all tools and equipment to their designated place
- Attending on-road vehicle breakdowns
- Carrying out vehicle road testing where necessary to determine specific vehicle defects or following remedial repair
- Complying with Health and Safety policy and guidance documents
- Adopting methods of safe working
Experience and qualities:
- Level 3 NVQ in PSV or HGV maintenance, repair and diagnostics or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years industry experience of both mechanical and electrical systems
- PSV licence would also be desirable (but not essential)
- Welding experience would also be desirable.
- Have proven knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act
- Ability to work effectively unsupervised, use own initiative and remain focused and consistent and a ‘can do’ attitude
The position is 40 hours per week, 7.00am – 4.00pm with some overtime offered / required in busy periods, salary is £46,800k (£22.50 per hour). Further on-going training opportunities are provided if required, pension scheme, great team environment.
