An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Procurement Compliance Manager to join our Procurement Team.
As Northern PowerGrid’s expert on Procurement Law and the Utilities Contract Regulations (UCR), this role is accountable for ensuring ongoing legal compliance within all procurement and tendering activities, providing interpretation and guidance to procurement staff and the wider business. Responsible for establishing and maintaining purchasing-related legal and policy compliance monitoring and reporting procedures, including preparation of BHE and executive-level reports that highlight breaches and recommend corrective actions.
Along with a competitive salary between £60,000 and £70,000 depending on experience, we also offer:

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all Northern Powergrid procurement policies, systems, and procedures comply with EU procurement directives.
- Monitor ongoing compliance with Northern Powergrid and Berkshire Hathaway Energy procurement policies.
- Ensure systems and procedures enable ethical procurement.
- Review NPg tenders for compliance before issuance, including establishing and executing audit programs.
- Develop and deliver procurement process improvements to maximize savings, reduce sole sourcing, increase bidder participation, and establish tendering principles for the most advantageous tenders.
- Maintain advanced knowledge of the EU Procurement Directive.
- Be knowledgeable in procurement systems and procedures.
- Possess high literacy skills for documenting reports, policies, and procedures.
- Have high IT literacy to support procurement systems.
- Demonstrate good communication skills for internal and external interactions and training.
- Excel in reporting and data manipulation.
Qualifications and Attributes
Essential:
- MCIPS or working towards MCIPS
- Knowledge of EU Procurement Directives
- Knowledge of Utilities Contract Regulations 2016 / Procurement Act 2023
- Experience with procurement and e-tendering systems
- Experience with tender negotiation
- Experience developing procurement policies and procedures
- Understanding of Contract Law
Desirable:
- Degree in a relevant subject
- Experience implementing new operating models
- Experience managing procurement compliance
- Experience working with external parties
