Our client, an established multinational engineering firm, require an experienced Principal Combat Systems Engineer to join their multi-disciplined team. This unique and specialist team provides the expertise to physically integrate the Combat Systems sub-system equipment, working within a complex engineering to order warship design programme.
What the role of the Principal Combat Systems Engineer entails:
- Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to ensure customer and business needs are satisfied appropriately, proactively solving problems and issues when they arise.
- Liaising with other Combat System technical design leads, and the Technical Authority (TA) to ensure coherency across the Combat System and the incorporation of whole ship and sub-system requirements.
- Customer facing role which will require competency within the Combat Systems domain, acting as the SME in area of responsibility.
- Support design change and design improvement from existing platform baselines to ensure the design intent of the platform is maintained.
- Technical design lead for the definition of Combat System design rules and management of all deviations for the CS Team.
- Technical design lead in support of physical integration undertaking technical work activities within a systems engineering context.
- Technical design lead in providing support to the platform and detail design teams for defining the requirements for Combat System equipment in non-Combat System compartments.
What experience you need to be the successful Principal Combat Systems Engineer:
- A relevant degree in an engineering or scientific discipline, with a demonstration of suitable experience/competency in Combat Systems.
- Member of a professional organisation and holds Chartered Engineering (CEng) status (or working towards).
- Previous experience of managing a technical team and can provide coaching and mentoring to others within the Combat Systems team to support their development.
- Has acted as a Combat Systems SME within a complex programme.
- Understanding of System Engineering design Lifecycle within an Engineering to Order (ETO) programme.
- Experience in fast-paced environment using SME knowledge to solve integration challenges to keep the project on track.
