Role: Pastoral Support Assistant

As a Pastoral Support Assistant, you’ll help us meet our young peoples’ emotional needs. Our young people have challenging complex emotional and behavioural needs (Autistic Spectrum Disorder/Social, Emotional and Mental Health) and require more support than most. You’ll ensure they receive high standards of care by working with families and developing tailored programs for each young person. Through careful assessment and planning, you’ll create a positive learning environment where every young person can thrive.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience working with young people with BESD or ASD in a school or care setting.
  • Understanding of developmental needs and pastoral care.
  • Good listening skills, motivation, teamwork, and ability to inspire young people.
  • Flexibility and good organizational skills.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Previous experience with ASC, ADHD, or SEMH pupils, and working with families in challenging circumstances.
  • Experience with multi-agency collaboration and understanding of safeguarding legislation.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Care or Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (preferred).
