Newbury Racecourse is an award-winning sporting venue hosting over 30 racedays annually, along with concerts, conferences, and exhibitions. It also features a 36-bedroom hotel, The Lodge, and the Rocking Horse Nursery. We are seeking an experienced individual for the role of Operations and Guest Experience Director. This key leadership position involves overseeing all raceday and non-raceday operations, as well as the commercial development of our on-site hotel. Reporting to the Chief Executive, the successful candidate will ensure a first-class venue and customer experience, maintaining high health and safety standards.
The role includes:
- Strategic event coordination for safe, high-quality events
- Line management of the Operations Manager, Hotel Manager, and QSHE Coordinator
- Leading customer experience initiatives
- Ensuring health and safety compliance and excellence
- Budget management and reporting
- Managing Cleaning, Traffic, Stewarding, and Security
- Overseeing the hotelβs management and growth
You will need:
- Extensive experience and success in operational planning
- A proven track record in event delivery at similar venues, with knowledge of crowd management
- Qualifications supporting health and safety management
- Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement ability
- Presence and dynamism to represent the racecourse professionally
