Excellent opportunity for a skilled, hands-on Network Engineer with Low Latency experience and expertise in AWS & Palo Alto to join a leading Financial Services organization in Northampton. As part of the Infrastructure team, reporting to the Head of IT Infrastructure, you will collaborate with developers, project stakeholders, and operations to build and maintain network infrastructure supporting high-performance trading activities, with a focus on AWS and datacentre environments.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and manage scalable, secure cloud and datacentre infrastructure for high-performance trading.
  • Develop advanced AWS networking solutions (VPCs, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, etc.) across accounts and regions.
  • Optimize low-latency connectivity, support colocated servers near exchanges, and implement cost-effective network solutions.

Infrastructure as Code & Automation:

  • Automate infrastructure deployment using Terraform, Ansible, and GitLab CI/CD.
  • Implement GitOps for consistent, auditable deployments.
  • Build resilient, self-healing network systems.

Performance & Optimization:

  • Optimize infrastructure for low latency and high availability.
  • Collaborate with developers on performance tuning and troubleshoot cross-region network issues.

Professional Experience and Skills:

  • Advanced AWS knowledge, ideally at the AWS Professional Certification level.
  • Extensive experience with AWS networking services, including Transit Gateway, VPC, Direct Connect, and VPC peering.
  • Strong understanding of on-premises datacentre networking and colocation environments.
  • Proficiency with Terraform and Ansible for automation.
  • Experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines and GitOps principles.
  • Knowledge of container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes (EKS).
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as OpenSearch, Prometheus, and Grafana.
  • Understanding of security best practices and AWS CIS Benchmark standards.
  • Experience designing low-latency network architectures.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Experience supporting multi-region and multi-account AWS environments.
  • Background in supporting high-performance or financial trading systems is preferred.
  • Proven ability to design fault-tolerant, resilient network architectures.
