We are looking for an experienced Technical Animator - Mid or Senior Level - to join a well-known, Midlands-based UK studio highly respected throughout the games industry. As a Technical Animator, you’ll work on the studio’s upcoming action-adventure project and their flagship title with a large, dedicated player base worldwide. This role is ideal for a problem solver with a creative technical mindset.
You will join the Technical Animation team, working directly with Engineering, Art, AI, and Game teams to build animation systems for runtime. You will use Unreal Engine to create high standards of animation across diverse, stylized characters and participate in R&D for new animation technologies. Note: This is a full-time, 18-month contract position.
- Collaborate with Designers and Engineers on gameplay animation features.
- Support engineers and game development teams in troubleshooting animation issues and enhancing workflows.
- Monitor and improve performance of animation systems.
- Develop tools to streamline workflows and improve asset quality.
Skills and experience required:
- Proficiency in creating Animation Blueprints in Unreal, including Blendspaces, State Machines, and Control Rig.
- Background in Technical Animation for games.
- Experience with runtime animation setup in-engine, including locomotion and actions for characters and creatures.
- Expertise in Unreal Engine 5 and animation techniques.
- Experience in developing location and character control systems.
- Completion of a full game development cycle.
Additional requirements:
- Based in the UK with the right to work there.
- Available to commit to the full 18-month PAYE contract.
