The Shanly Group has an extensive residential property portfolio, including a significant ground rent portfolio of freehold reversions and long leaseholders. Currently, all lease extension and enfranchisement work is outsourced to external law firms. We are looking to bring the non-contentious aspects of this work in house. This is an office-based role working as part of our team in Beaconsfield. We are ideally looking for part-time candidates working between 24 to 32 hours per week.

About the In-House Residential Property Lawyer role:

  • Reporting to the Group Operations Director (a qualified solicitor), we are seeking a skilled and experienced solicitor or legal executive to contribute directly to the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of our lease management processes by dealing with the non-contentious aspects of residential lease extensions and other residential property matters in-house.
  • Manage voluntary and statutory residential lease extensions on behalf of the Group companies, as freeholder, end to end.
  • Handle the non-contentious elements of leasehold enfranchisement matters.
  • Support the long leasehold property manager with the preparation, review and completion of deeds of variation relating to long leases and the variation of freehold rent charges.
  • Deal with the disposal of some of the Group’s retained landholdings, such as access roads and surplus parcels of land left post development.
  • Liaise with leaseholders, their solicitors, and other relevant parties.
  • Ensure compliance with current and upcoming legislation, including the Leasehold and Freehold Reform Act 2024 and subsequent changes.
  • Maintain accurate records and case management.

About you:

  • Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with at least 3 years' PQE specialising in residential property law, ideally with a focus on long leasehold matters.
  • Experience managing a caseload of matters with minimal supervision.
  • Strong understanding of leasehold legislation and procedures.
  • Experience with both voluntary and statutory lease extensions.
  • Excellent drafting and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Registered Providers would be an advantage but is by no means necessary.
  • Ability to manage a high workload and prioritise effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
