Job Description:

About the Company

Heriot Brown is partnering with a leading global financial services group to find an Employment Counsel to join their in-house legal team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a rare opportunity to work in a highly collaborative, international legal function with a wide-ranging remit across jurisdictions.

The role is ideal for an employment lawyer looking to build global exposure, contribute to strategic initiatives, and support a well-established business operating across regulated markets.

About the Role

You’ll join a small but experienced global employment legal team and advise on a broad mix of UK and cross-border employment matters. The work spans the entire employee lifecycle, with a focus on employee relations, terminations, internal policy development, and employment aspects of corporate transactions.

You’ll also partner closely with the HR team to ensure global compliance, drive best practices, and support on restructuring projects, governance, and risk mitigation. This is a practical, advisory role where your work will have clear and immediate impact.

Who Are You?

  • UK-qualified lawyer with strong post-qualification experience in employment law
  • Previous in-house experience essential, ideally within financial services or another regulated sector
  • Strong advisory skills across contentious and non-contentious employment matters
  • Comfortable developing policies, templates, and delivering training to HR and business teams
  • Collaborative, commercially minded, and experienced working with international teams
