HEAD OF RISK – LAW FIRM RISK & COMPLIANCE

Our client is a prestigious London-based corporate law firm with an excellent reputation, high-profile global clients, and a commitment to delivering superior quality work.

The Risk & Compliance team has expanded in recent years, and we are now seeking a Head of Risk to support the Director of Risk by overseeing various legal and regulatory risks. You will manage a team of three risk advisors and collaborate with the Head of Business Acceptance to ensure a cohesive approach to risk management across the firm.

Your responsibilities will include reviewing and updating the firm’s risk strategy, systems, and controls. You will provide support, training, and development to the team and fee-earners, deputise for the Director of Risk when necessary, and assist Partners and management. The role covers areas such as SRA regulation, accounting issues, data protection, third-party suppliers, audits, and complaints.

We are seeking a highly qualified solicitor with at least 10 years’ PQE, preferably with experience in a risk and compliance function. Alternatively, lawyers with directly relevant fee-earning experience may be considered. It is essential to have practical knowledge of the SRA and current risk issues facing law firms.

The ideal candidate will be pragmatic with a commercial approach to risk, possess strong communication skills, and be proactive with a problem-solving mindset. You should be capable of multitasking, setting priorities, and have a client-oriented approach to issues.
