The Engineering College of Technology (ECT) is excited to announce the expansion of our team with a new position: Head of Engineering. ECT has recently been established and registered in the UK. ECT is a sister company of the Australian-based Engineering Institute of Technology (EIT). EIT is an engineering education and training specialist with more than 30 years of association with the engineering industry worldwide. EIT delivers more than 85 industry-driven accredited qualifications and professional development courses, to students in over 160 countries. Students study on-campus and online using an innovative and interactive platform of learning.
As we continue to grow, we are delighted to be in the UK with the Engineering College of Technology (ECT). We are seeking an accomplished and forward-thinking Head of Engineering to provide strategic and academic leadership, ensuring excellence in teaching, research, and industry engagement.
About the Role:
As Head of Engineering, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of engineering education at ECT. Your leadership will drive the faculty’s growth, elevate academic quality, and enhance ECT’s standing as a center of excellence in engineering education and research. In this pivotal position, you will lead the development of innovative academic programs, establish and expand industry partnerships, and ensure compliance with UK regulatory and accreditation requirements. Your expertise will help bridge the gap between academia and industry, ensuring graduates are equipped with the skills and knowledge to excel in a rapidly evolving engineering landscape.
Responsibilities:
- Provide academic leadership to enhance teaching, learning, and research excellence.
- Develop and implement the faculty’s strategic vision in alignment with institutional goals.
- Oversee the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of academic programs.
- Ensure compliance with UK regulatory and accreditation standards, including professional engineering bodies.
- Lead faculty quality assurance processes, working closely with the Governance and Academic Board.
- Stay informed of emerging trends across engineering disciplines, including electrical, mechanical, chemical, civil, and electronic engineering.
- Develop and expand industry partnerships to enhance research impact and student employability.
- Build international collaborations with overseas institutions and industry stakeholders.
- Identify and lead the development of new educational programs and professional training courses.
- Drive faculty revenue growth through grants, research funding, and commercial opportunities.
- Work closely with course leaders and programme committees to maintain curriculum relevance and academic rigor.
- Chair or participate in programme committees to oversee governance and strategic decision-making.
- Mentor and develop academic and professional staff, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Oversee faculty management teams, ensuring efficient operations and strategic execution.
- Enhance faculty infrastructure and processes to support growth, innovation, and student success.
- Lead marketing and outreach strategies to attract students and strengthen industry engagement.
About You:
We are looking for an experienced academic leader with a strategic mindset and a strong background in engineering education and research. You will bring:
- Master’s degree in any discipline within Engineering.
- A proven track record of academic achievement and research leadership, with standing and credibility in the academic community.
- Significant leadership and management experience, including managing complex budgets, leading diverse teams, and driving institutional success and change, with a collaborative leadership style that fosters teamwork and collegiality.
- Understanding of UK higher education governance, finance, funding arrangements, and the dynamics of UK, international and postgraduate student markets.
- Strategic vision and the ability to translate long-term goals into actionable plans.
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and influence others.
- The ability to navigate and lead during periods of change, and react positively when external challenges arise, demonstrating resilience, adaptability, and thoughtful decision-making.
- A PhD in any discipline within Engineering (or working towards).
