OXBO are delighted to be working with a leading UK based, multi-technology (Solar/BESS/Wind) renewable energy IPP to add a Grid Engineer to their team in London.

The company are well-funded, with a lean team, that can quickly adapt to changes in market conditions, so are well placed to profit from the upcoming grid reforms in the industry

The Role

This role will identify and develop opportunities on the distribution and transmission grid suitable for delivering against company strategy. It will involve a lot of working with DNOs ,TNOs, ICPs, and EPCs in order to deliver projects ready for development.

  • Identify and qualify grid capacity suitable for BESS, solar, wind and other technology projects
  • Develop strategies for green field projects, existing projects and project acquisitions, with a robust understanding of the impact of the timing of grid connections, connection costs and ongoing network charges/revenues at distribution and transmission level
  • Originate, submit, and manage the grid application (G99) process
  • Collaborate with the legal team to oversee the delivery of accurate and complete agreements
  • Manage project pipeline by communicating with DNOs/IDNOs/ICPs/EPCs as necessary for the development team to develop the project to ”shovel ready” status
  • Stay up to date with applicable regulations and technology development as they relate to the development of the energy generation, storage and relevant industrial demand projects, with a particular emphasis on grid reform (including with respect to queue management and charging)
  • Take ownership of the grid aspects of assigned projects, including managing deadlines, multiple project objectives, project timelines, and success criteria for each
  • Attend industry and engagement conferences and events to maintain relationship with DNOs/IDNOs/TNOs/ICPs

Requirements

  • Ability to identify grid capacity, create required technical documentation for successful applications
  • Comfortable initiating contact and building relationships with the DNOs and industry stakeholders
  • Understanding of the distribution and transmission grid as they relate to energy developments and industrial demand
  • Knowledge of grid reform, upgrade and reinforcements projects
  • AutoCAD (ability to create SLDs and land plans)
  • Engineering degree – Electrical preference (or equivalent experience)
