Job Title: Grapple Saw Operator
As our Grapple Saw Operator, you will support colleagues with mechanised tree felling and harvesting works, including the use of a grapple saw, in clear fell, thinnings, and Duty of Care (DOC) works.
Responsibilities:
- Walking sites ahead of works and producing accurate written records for submission.
- Conducting all tasks to the highest standards, ensuring sites are left tidy and safe.
- Working harvesting machines efficiently, minimizing idling and stoppages.
- Completing all forest operations in line with health, safety, and environmental standards, including site management plans and risk assessments.
- Ensuring machinery and tools are used correctly and operated safely.
- Carrying out routine maintenance on machinery and completing related paperwork promptly.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Significant experience in large-scale mechanised harvesting, including operating a grapple saw or similar equipment.
- Harvester FMOCS qualified or CPCS tracked/wheeled machines certification.
- NPTC certification in chainsaw use (maintenance, cross-cutting, and felling up to 380mm).
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental practices.
- Ability to read and interpret maps, including GPS/GIS.
- A full UK driving license is essential for this multi-site role.
- This role can be physically demanding and involves working at heights outdoors in all weather conditions.
