Job Description:
Senior Energy Engineer – Heat Networks
Our client is a forward-thinking heat network owner and operator, committed to driving the decarbonisation of urban infrastructure. Backed by long-term institutional investors and guided by an experienced leadership team, the company designs, builds, and operates low-carbon heat networks that serve residential, commercial, and public sector customers. With a clear mission to deliver resilient and sustainable heating, they play a vital role in supporting the UK’s net-zero ambitions.
We are now seeking a Senior Energy Engineer to join the team and support the successful delivery of decarbonisation and optimisation initiatives across an existing portfolio of heat networks. This is a technically focused role, where you’ll contribute to the planning, coordination, and execution of capital works—ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with long-term sustainability goals. It’s an excellent opportunity for an engineer who wants to make a meaningful contribution to the low-carbon energy transition.
- Support the implementation of capital projects including system upgrades, low-carbon transitions, and interconnection works
- Define project scopes, assess feasibility, and collaborate with engineering and asset management teams
- Manage relationships with contractors, consultants, and other delivery partners
- Track progress against programme, cost, and quality metrics, ensuring high standards are maintained
- Contribute to the company’s net-zero strategy by ensuring technical solutions support decarbonisation goals
Requirements:
- Degree or relevant qualification in engineering (e.g., mechanical, electrical, energy systems)
- Experience delivering infrastructure or energy projects—knowledge of heat networks, CHP, HVAC or similar is a plus
- Confident coordinating contractors, consultants, and stakeholders in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Passion for low-carbon technologies and the transition to sustainable energy
