The General Counsel will serve as the chief legal officer of DD Products and Services Ltd, advising senior management and the board on legal risks, compliance, and corporate governance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in corporate law, risk management, and regulatory compliance. This role will sit within our operating board structure and provide significant exposure to both UK and International areas of the business. It also offers an opportunity for someone early in their career to gain experience in Private Equity. This is a part-time role 3 days per week - can be flexible on days.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal counsel to the executive team and board of directors on corporate strategy, governance, and risk mitigation.
- Oversee legal aspects of business transactions, including commercial contracts, mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships.
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international laws and regulations, with particular expertise in bribery, corruption, and reporting.
- Manage litigation, disputes, and regulatory investigations.
- Develop and implement legal policies and best practices across the organisation.
- Collaborate with external legal advisors and regulatory bodies as needed.
- Confidently challenge stakeholders and bring legal considerations to the forefront of decision-making.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified lawyer in the UK.
- Strong academic credentials.
- Minimum of 5 years PQE (Post-Qualified Experience).
- Expertise in compliance, particularly in bribery, corruption, and reporting.
- Extensive experience in commercial contracts.
- Experience of mergers and acquisitions is desirable.
- Strong knowledge of corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
- Strong personal skills and the ability to engage and challenge stakeholders confidently.
