We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineer (m/w/d) to join our Vehicle Simulation team. You will be responsible for developing real-time vehicle simulation models in Simulink (and C) and will apply them to hardware- and driver-in-the-loop facilities. You will play a crucial role in creating a realistic and accurate driving simulation environment for offline simulation and driving simulator usage, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and software developers. We aim to innovate and accelerate the wider deployment of state-of-the-art Digital Twin and driving simulation technologies, applied to Toyota GR racing and road vehicle development programs.
Are you a team player who thrives on responsibility, with strong analytical skills and a very good understanding of controls systems? Then you are the right person to take on this challenge. Experience teamwork and be inspired by the passion of our 450-strong workforce for motorsport and automotive projects.
What we offer:
- Exciting projects and a place for technical freedom and innovation to get things moving
- Attractive benefits package e.g. competitive remuneration, social benefits, 30 days annual holiday, car leasing, free on-site gym
- A challenging, fulfilling workplace in a multi-national company within a familiar atmosphere – driven by fascination and passion
Your Tasks:
- Further develop TGR-E’s vehicle-dynamic simulation tools, full-vehicle models, and model-based development processes
- Apply your vehicle models and control algorithms to real-time hardware-in-the-loop facilities such as dynamic Driving Simulators or HiL test benches
- Operate and maintain the TGR-E driving simulators, including hardware and software components
- Interact confidently with colleagues, professional race drivers, technical experts and VIP visitors, adapting communication styles as needed
- Maintain composure during demanding situations, exhibiting a “cool-head” approach to problem-solving
- Approach challenges with a proactive mindset, proposing innovative solutions and driving development
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in driving simulation technology and contribute to research projects
The successful candidate will have:
- Minimum a bachelor’s degree in automotive or motorsport engineering or an engineering discipline with modules relating to several of the following topics: Mathematical/Physical Modelling, Vehicle Dynamics, Simulation, Optimisation, Control Theory or Robotics/Mechatronics
- Advanced experience in Simulink modelling, ideally from vehicle dynamics applications
- Sound knowledge of real-time dynamical systems modelling, signal processing and control theory, ideally from vehicle dynamics applications
- Practical experience in C or C++
- Previous experience working with real-time hardware-in-loop simulation systems (ideally including the creation, build and execution of models on dSpace systems)
- Previous experience working across multiple operating systems (e.g. Linux)
- Previous experience with Driving Simulators and Model Based Design
- Identify with automotive/racing simulation requirements and have a passion for the latest simulation technology developments
