Job Description:
Do you want to be part of the team shaping the future of Formula 1?
This is your chance to work with Aston Martin, a team that not only has grand ambitions but also delivers on them. With the arrival of legendary designer Adrian Newey and the brand-new wind tunnel in Silverstone, the path is set for technological innovations that will forever transform the sport.
As a Director Driveline Formulator, you play a critical role in the success of Aston Martin’s Formula 1 team. Based at our client’s Dordrecht location, you’ll collaborate with international top teams, including the engineers in Silverstone, where the transmission and the entire driveline are designed and built. Your mission is to formulate fluids that not only meet the strictest FIA standards but also elevate the performance of the cars to new heights.
The Role
This is no ordinary job. You are the specialist fully focused on formulating high-performance fluids. You will develop new fluids from basic components, without using commercial additive packages, continuously enhancing vehicle performance and durability for Formula 1, NASCAR, and other top motorsports.
Additionally, you’ll work closely with external suppliers to source, coordinate, test and implement various ready-made products, such as brake fluids, shock oils, ultrasonic cleaners, and hydrophobic coatings.
During race weekends, you’ll be on standby. You will perform detailed fluid analyses to ensure that engine and transmission fluids are in optimal condition. Should something unexpected occur, you’ll be the one called to quickly and efficiently resolve the issue. Your expertise makes all the difference when every second counts.
Moreover, you’ll take the lead in research initiatives: designing groundbreaking fluids using the latest technologies, overseeing laboratory testing, and often being the first to apply innovative technologies in the automotive sector.
The Formula 1 world is incredibly dynamic, which is why we’re looking for someone who is not only technically strong but also outgoing and a true connector. You’ll collaborate with people from Aston Martin and Honda, as well as with laboratory experts. The ability to switch between different teams and priorities is essential. Innovation, collaboration, and a passion for perfection are at your core. Simultaneously, you will build and maintain a strong network of technical collaborators in the racing industry, academia, government laboratories, and suppliers.
At Aston Martin, everything revolves around progress and pushing boundaries. With the new wind tunnel as the team’s greatest technical asset, a world of opportunities is open to you. Your expertise will not only help Aston Martin but also the broader team. Your knowledge and background in chemistry and motorsport technology will make a difference. We’re even looking for someone with prior experience in Formula 1 or motorsports to give us a competitive edge.
You’ll work in an environment that encourages critical thinking, innovation, and collaboration with the best experts in the industry. You’ll have the space to excel and elevate the sport to new heights. Success is celebrated, and your impact will not go unnoticed.
Are you ready to take your career to pole position and make a difference in Formula 1? Aston Martin is waiting for you.
