Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Data Migration Engineer to lead and execute end-to-end data migration projects for a major client. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in data migration across hybrid environments, with a proven ability to manage large-scale datasets while ensuring compliance, integrity, and performance. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams and hands-on development using modern cloud and database technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the full data migration lifecycle, including planning, mapping, extraction, transformation, loading (ETL), and validation.
- Design and execute data migration strategies for structured and unstructured data across cloud, on-premises, or hybrid environments.
- Work closely with data architects, business analysts, and developers to understand business requirements and align migration processes.
- Develop scalable ETL pipelines using tools like Azure Synapse, SQL databases, or equivalent technologies.
- Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with GDPR and other data protection standards during migration activities.
- Monitor and optimize data migration performance, ensuring minimal downtime and high reliability.
- Resolve issues related to data quality, schema mismatches, and system compatibility.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation including migration plans, data mapping, transformation logic, and validation reports.
- Perform rigorous post-migration data validation and testing to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Provide technical troubleshooting and support throughout the migration lifecycle.
- Apply data masking, anonymization, and encryption methods to protect sensitive data during transit.
- Ensure transparency and compliance through proper data governance, lineage tracking, and auditing.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in leading large-scale data migration projects.
- Proficiency in ETL development and tools such as Azure Synapse, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), or equivalent.
- Strong hands-on experience with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
- Deep understanding of data modeling, schema design, and data quality assurance.
- Expertise in Azure Cloud or similar cloud platforms for data migrations (cloud-to-cloud or cloud-to-on-premises).
- Knowledge of data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR) and best practices in data security.
- Experience with data masking, encryption, and anonymization techniques.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
