Job Type: Full-time contract, 12 Months

Job Purpose:

  • To provide specialist information security oversight, advice, and guidance to the Department’s projects and functions on all aspects of information security to ensure that functions involving classified information assets, materials, and equipment are subject to an acceptable risk management regime.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide analysis of risks to information systems to inform risk owners and project managers for effective decision-making.
  • Offer expert advice to the CISO and other elements of the IS management chain.
  • Ensure IT projects receive timely technical security advice.
  • Develop and apply the overall security architecture of the organization and define the role of key security controls.
  • Maintain high standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality; demonstrate strong teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with functions, projects, and supply chain to assess information risks and recommend management strategies.
  • Lead efforts to maintain awareness of government and industry best practices in Information Assurance and Risk Management.
  • Determine security architecture applicability to projects and advise solution architects on security requirements.
  • Review solution designs for compliance, security requirements, and efficacy of security features.
  • Facilitate formal accreditation of departmental systems with government authorities.
  • Act as an interface between the Department and the National Technical Authority (NCSC).
  • Oversee IT Health Checks and Vulnerability Assessments, including scope approval and testing programs.
  • Record, track, and review assessments and audits of information capabilities and projects.
  • Provide technical risk assessments.
  • Promote professionalism in Information Risk Management within the Department.
  • Participate in and manage project Security Working Groups as appropriate.
