Job Type: Full-time contract, 12 Months

Job Purpose: To provide specialist information security oversight, advice, and guidance to the Department’s projects and functions on all aspects of information security, ensuring that functions involving classified information assets, materials, and equipment are subject to an acceptable risk management regime.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide analysis of risks to information systems to inform risk owners and project managers for effective decision-making.
  • Offer expert advice to the CISO and other elements of the IS management chain.
  • Ensure IT projects receive timely technical security advice.
  • Develop and implement the overall security architecture of the organization, including key security controls.
  • Maintain high standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality, and promote teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with functions, projects, and supply chain to assess information risks and recommend management strategies.
  • Maintain awareness of government and industry best practices in Information Assurance and Risk Management.
  • Determine security architecture application to projects and advise solution architects on security requirements.
  • Review solution designs for compliance and security efficacy.
  • Facilitate formal accreditation of systems with government departments.
  • Interface with the National Technical Authority (NCSC).
  • Oversee IT Health Checks and Vulnerability Assessments, including scope and testing programs.
  • Track assessments and support reviews and audits.
  • Provide technical risk assessment analysis.
  • Promote professionalism in Information Risk Management within the Department.
  • Participate in and manage project Security Working Groups as appropriate.
