A client of Melbury Wood are seeking an experienced and proactive Public Affairs Consultant to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for someone currently operating at Account Manager or Senior Account Manager level with 2β4 yearsβ experience in public affairs, either in-house or within an agency environment. The successful candidate will play a central role in client delivery, providing day-to-day support, devising political and stakeholder engagement strategies, and driving high-quality client service. You will work closely with senior team members and be a trusted point of contact for clients across sectors including energy, FS, sport and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver tailored political engagement strategies, targeting ministers, parliamentarians, and key stakeholders
- Monitor policy, parliamentary activity, and regulatory developments; provide timely and insightful updates to clients
- Draft high-quality briefings, reports, consultation responses, and other client communications
- Maintain strong client relationships and act as the main day-to-day contact across multiple accounts
- Contribute to new business activity, including proposal writing, research, and pitch support
- Attend stakeholder meetings, political events, and parliamentary sessions where relevant
- Collaborate with colleagues to share insights and develop innovative public affairs solutions
Key Skills & Experience:
- 2β4 yearsβ experience in public affairs, either agency or in-house
- Deep understanding of UK political institutions, policy-making processes, and stakeholder landscapes
