The CTO will oversee both our IT Support and Software Development teams, ensuring operational excellence, secure and scalable infrastructure, and consistent delivery of high-quality solutions. You’ll also lead initiatives to gain ISO accreditations and build partnerships with major cloud providers (AWS, Microsoft, Google). This role requires a strategic thinker who can also roll up their sleeves to support and grow the team, embed automation, and build robust, scalable processes across both technical divisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the company’s overall technology roadmap across IT operations and software engineering.
- Align tech initiatives with business goals and client needs (commercial & government).
- Champion innovation and continuous improvement.
- Lead and manage the IT support and software development teams.
- Coach the existing Team Leader and support the integration of a new Product Manager.
- Recruit, retain, and develop high-performing technical talent.
IT Operations & MSP Readiness
- Oversee IT infrastructure, helpdesk, remote and on-site support across two businesses.
- Standardise onboarding/offboarding and implement automation using tools like n8n.
- Select and implement ITSM/RMM platforms to enable MSP operations and SLA tracking.
Software Development Oversight
- Ensure software delivery follows agile best practices, CI/CD pipelines, and code quality standards.
- Liaise with clients, product managers, and government stakeholders for requirements and delivery.
Accreditations & Cloud Partnerships
- Lead ISO accreditation projects (ISO 27001, 9001, 20000).
- Own the AWS, Google, and Microsoft partner journey — from technical compliance to certification.
- Ensure security, data protection, and compliance frameworks are implemented and maintained.
Skills & Experience
- Proven leadership experience across both IT operations and software development.
- Experience managing hybrid teams and scaling technical operations.
- Strong understanding of IT service management and MSP models.
- Experience with ISO standards and cloud partnership ecosystems (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- 8+ years in IT/Tech roles, 3+ years in leadership.
- Experience in B2B, SaaS, or MSP models preferred.
Soft Skills
- Strong communicator, proactive leader, commercially aware, capable of translating tech to business.
- Previous experience working with public sector or government clients.
Certifications
- AWS/Azure/GCP, ISO Lead Implementer, ITIL, or similar.
- Familiarity with ITSM tools (e.g., ConnectWise, Autotask, NinjaOne) and DevOps tools.
