Luxury Women’s Ready-to-Wear and Jewellery Buyer
Liberty is seeking a highly experienced and commercially minded Buyer to lead the Luxury Women’s Ready-to-Wear and Jewellery categories. This role is key in shaping product strategy, driving sales, enhancing profitability, and maintaining Liberty\’s trend-leading and distinctive edit. You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to source, develop, and deliver compelling products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create product strategy in partnership with buying, merchandising, retail, customer insight, ecommerce, and marketing teams to ensure the offering is unique, commercial, and press-worthy, meeting sales and margin targets.
- Manage new concession launches and day-to-day performance, ensuring alignment and sales growth.
- Implement brand and product strategies within the agreed OTB.
- Plan floor layouts to maximize sales, densities, and margins, considering brand adjacencies and commercial placements.
- Negotiate delivery, discount, and payment terms with suppliers.
- Secure additional marketing support and coordinate seasonal marketing activities.
- Align with stakeholders across the business to meet KPIs.
- Work with merchandisers to maximize reorders and reduce end-of-season markdowns.
- Conduct floor walks to review sales and take actions to improve underperforming areas.
- Brief internal teams on buy strategies and concession plans, ensuring cohesive execution and storytelling.
- Research market trends and source new brands/products to keep the offering relevant and distinctive.
- Lead and develop the buying team, planning for their progression.
- Attend key market events, trade fairs, and fashion weeks domestically and internationally.
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to leverage Liberty\’s market position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Deep understanding of global and local markets, categories, and trends.
- Ability to identify declining trends early and make strategic decisions to protect profitability.
- Strong commercial and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Effective leadership and team development capabilities.
- Clear and confident communication across functions.
- Highly organized, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Solid understanding of buying processes and best practices.
- Ability to interpret reports, feedback, and market data.
- Experience in department store and concession management is preferred.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of buying experience, preferably within a fast-paced multi-channel department store environment.
