AWS Architect – Global Enterprise Environment
We are seeking a seasoned AWS Architect to join an enterprise financial services organisation. As a key member of the cloud engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and optimising scalable, secure, and high-performance cloud architectures on AWS.
You will work closely with stakeholders across technology, risk, and business domains to enable the delivery of critical services and transformation initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise security and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of AWS cloud solutions across a broad range of use cases, including data platforms, application hosting, and enterprise workloads.
- Define cloud-native architectures leveraging services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, Aurora, EKS, and more.
- Develop secure cloud infrastructure aligned with regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., PCI DSS, ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR).
- Enforce best practices for identity and access management, data protection, and incident response.
- Collaborate with business units, software developers, DevOps engineers, and security teams to integrate AWS solutions that meet performance, resilience, and scalability targets.
- Drive continuous improvement of cloud operations, including cost optimization, automation, monitoring, and deployment strategies using tools like CloudFormation, Terraform, and AWS CDK.
- Evaluate new AWS services and features to recommend relevant innovations.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven experience as an AWS Solutions Architect within enterprise-scale environments.
- Strong understanding of AWS Well-Architected Framework.
- Experience with multi-account strategies using AWS Organizations, Control Tower, and IAM best practices.
- Background in financial services or regulated industries highly desirable.
- Expertise in infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Bash, or similar).
- Solid understanding of networking, security, and identity management in cloud environments.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps culture.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional (or equivalent certification).
- Prior experience in large-scale cloud migrations or hybrid cloud strategies.
- Familiarity with data governance, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity in cloud contexts.
