Role Overview:
Morgan Philips Specialist Recruitment is representing a world-leading professional services firm in their search for an Assistant General Counsel to join their in-house legal team. The client seeks an experienced commercial lawyer focused on technology, data privacy, data protection, and AI. The successful candidate will provide practical, business-focused legal advice to the company\’s global operations.
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide legal support on various legal and regulatory matters for a global professional services organization.
- Advise on technology, data privacy, data protection, AI, and related issues, supporting day-to-day commercial and regulatory legal matters.
- Assist in managing compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and network policies across jurisdictions.
- Support Technology and Risk Management teams with legal expertise.
- Develop and implement governance, policies, procedures, and playbooks.
- Review and advise on new services and solutions, including governance processes and legal/regulatory issues related to technology, data privacy, data protection, and AI.
- Manage external legal counsel across jurisdictions efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Provide practical, risk-aware legal advice aligned with business objectives.
- Present on legal topics and author articles as needed.
- Mentor and support junior team members.
About You:
- UK-qualified lawyer (or equivalent outside the UK) with significant experience at a major law firm or relevant in-house experience.
- Expert legal skills with the ability to lead complex legal and regulatory issues.
- Strong risk management and strategic thinking skills.
- Experience negotiating, drafting, and reviewing commercial agreements across jurisdictions.
- Ability to work independently on complex matters and collaborate with teams.
- Balance the needs of a fast-growing global business with legal and compliance risks.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
