Our client is a leading independent wholesale entering an ambitious period of multi business growth. As Procurement Lead, you will take ownership of procurement, sourcing across the Group, with responsibility for delivering value, maintaining high service levels, and enabling margin growth. This includes ensuring strong supplier partnerships, robust processes, and operational visibility that supports scale, speed, and sustainability.
Responsibilities
- Ensure reliable supply and stock availability across both businesses to meet customer and service demands.
- Develop and implement a group-wide sourcing strategy that leverages scale, delivers cost savings, and ensures quality and ethical standards.
- Rationalise supplier base where appropriate while securing continuity, compliance, and innovation.
- Lead contract negotiations with key suppliers and ensure favourable terms and service level adherence.
- Champion supplier relationship management and performance tracking at Group level.
- Ensure all procurement and supply activities are fully compliant with legal, regulatory, and quality standards.
- Maintain and own procurement policies, vendor onboarding protocols, and documentation in line with external and internal audit standards.
- Anticipate and manage supply risks, including regulatory change, product shortages, or ESG non-conformance.
- Align procurement strategy with business plan and 2027/2032 growth milestones.
- Drive innovation through digital procurement, eProcurement, and data-led decision-making.
- Contribute to budgeting, ESG planning, and long-term transformation at Group level.
- Work closely with Sales, Ops, ESG, Finance, and Tech to ensure procurement enables commercial goals.
- Create cross-functional planning rhythms and accountability that support joined-up execution across the Group.
The ideal candidate
- Strong track record of negotiating and managing supplier performance, ensuring value, reliability, and resilience in the supply chain.
- Experience building long-term partnerships (e.g. manufacturers, innovation partners, JV collaborators) that deliver competitive and strategic advantage.
- Strong understanding of gross margin, landed cost, and total cost of ownership.
- Able to align procurement decisions with overall business performance targets.
- Confident handling large datasets, using insights to improve supplier terms, pricing strategies, and stock levels.
- Strong MSO skills - Advanced Excel is essential.
- System Literacy: Comfortable working within ERP systems, procurement tools, and digital approval workflows.
