We are seeking a dedicated Support Worker to provide valuable assistance to a delightful child with a brain injury. This role involves working closely with his loving family to facilitate access to the community and engage in meaningful activities that spark joy and interest.

About the Child:

Our fantastic client is a fun-loving 8-year-old boy who is intellectually very able. He communicates using both high-tech and low-tech communication devices. He attends mainstream school with two-to-one support. Home-based carers do not support him during school hours. There is a well-established therapy team that provides training on all aspects of his care.

You will support the client in his own home and work closely with family members. He receives two-to-one support on a daily basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate community access and participation in engaging activities.
  • Support the child in using high technology and low technology to communicate his needs effectively.
  • Collaborate with the family to create a fun, safe, and stimulating environment.
  • Encourage physical activities to harness his energy, alongside soothing sensory play.
  • Foster a trusting and caring relationship to help him thrive.
  • Access the community and participate in a variety of activities.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A nurturing and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with children, especially those with additional needs.
  • Experience or knowledge of AAC communication methods would be advantageous, however training will be provided.
  • Experience of positive behaviour support would be advantageous.
  • A flexible approach and willingness to adapt activities based on the child’s moods and preferences.
  • A commitment to promoting a fun and safe environment.
  • Patience, creativity, and the ability to inspire and motivate.

What We Offer:

  • The chance to make a meaningful impact in a child’s life and support their family.
  • A rewarding role in beautiful surroundings, with a welcoming and loving family.
  • Competitive pay and flexible hours to fit your schedule.
  • Additional client specific training.
  • Collaboration with a wonderful team of therapists including OT, Physio and Speech and Language.
