As a Field Service Engineer II, you will travel to customer sites to work on various automation solutions, including material handling systems, assembly lines, robotic welding cells, and more. Your primary responsibilities include repairing, retrofitting, designing, building, programming, and deploying custom automated equipment and solutions. Heavy controls background and experience with Beckhoff systems preferred. This role will involve up to 9 months at a customer site located in Phoenix, AZ.
What You’ll Do
- Travel to customer sites on a moment’s notice to perform troubleshooting and repair functions, which may include long hours, nights, weekends, and holiday work.
- Complete a Field Service Report for each customer service call.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain robot controllers, electrical control devices, mechanical units, transfer devices, and peripheral equipment.
- Maintain a service tool kit and documentation to facilitate rapid customer response.
- Provide telephone‑based troubleshooting support to customers to resolve robot or related peripheral equipment operational problems as needed.
- Program and edit robot and peripheral equipment paths to restore, maintain, or optimize system performance.
- Conduct electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic debug, peripheral device programming, machine PLC programming, coordinate machine debug, power‑up, and machine validation.
- Install and repair industrial electronic equipment, including I/O networks, data highways, variable speed drives, and process control equipment, for a wide variety of automated control systems ranging from simple on/off control to robotics.
What You’ll Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, calculated as two (2) years of relevant work experience for each year of academic study (preferred).
- 3+ years of experience with automated equipment build, troubleshooting, and maintenance of automated/robotic cells.
- Experience in JR Automation or the automation industry is strongly preferred.
- Formal technical training in automated equipment maintenance and troubleshooting on robotic cells and PLC/HMI reprogramming Master certification preferred.

Other Details
- Travel up to 75% of the time may be required, including domestic and international projects.
- Ability to complete Lock Out Tag Out training while employed at JR.
- Requirement to successfully complete a 10‑panel drug screen, physical examination, and background check.
