Job Description

As a Principal Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase, you will be leading change as part of an agile team in Global Technology Asset Management that works to enhance, build, deliver and operate firmwide solutions whilst mentoring junior members of the team.

Drive significant business impact through your capabilities and contributions, and apply technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to tackle a diverse array of challenges that span multiple technologies and applications.

  • Job Responsibilities
  • Engage with stakeholders to break down complex and ambiguous problems into technical specifications that an engineering team can implement under your guidance.
  • Lead and participate in regular technical meetings with the ability to influence not just the technology strategy but shape the product as well, ensuring that architectural decisions align with the broader organizational goals and strategy.
  • Architects and governs agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows (using enterprise-authorized tools within the work environment) to improve delivery speed, code quality, and operational outcomes at scale (e. g., AI-driven PR review assistance, test generation/maintenance, release readiness checks, incident triage and root-cause acceleration), while defining guardrails for validation, security, resiliency, and reuse across teams.
  • Design and implements secure, high quality, technical solutions written in Java; reviews and debugs code whilst owning and delivering end-to-end cutting-edge solutions leveraging the latest technologies and the best industry practices.
  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation at scale.
  • Support the products you've built through their entire life cycle, including production and incident management.
  • Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies.

  • Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills
  • Expert knowledge of the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Expert knowledge in developing, debugging, and maintaining code with modern programming languages and database querying languages
  • Expert knowledge with server-side languages and frameworks (e. g. Java/Spring Boot)
  • Experience building solutions on at least one Cloud platform (e. g.

AWS) using integration technologies (e. g.

Graph QL, REST etc..) and No SQL/SQL database technologies (e. g.

  • Postgre SQL, Tiger Graph etc..)
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security
  • Demonstrated experience designing and leading adoption of agentic AI-enabled development practices (using enterprise-authorized tools within the work environment) across teams, including setting standards for human-in-the-loop validation, auditability/traceability of changes, and secure handling of sensitive data.
  • Strong understanding of responsible AI use and control expectations in engineering workflows, including security/resiliency implications, data sensitivity, and risk-based governance; ability to influence senior technical leaders on safe scaling patterns and reuse.
  • Experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field

  • Knowledge and experience with Python
  • Knowledge and experience with frontend technologies (e. g. Typescript / React)
