As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Digital Identity Team, you serve in a leadership role by providing technical coaching and advisory for multiple technical teams, as well as anticipate the needs and potential dependencies of other functions within the firm. As an expert in your field, your insights influence budget and technical considerations to advance operational efficiencies and functionalities.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of UI engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Oversee UI development projects from conception to delivery, ensuring timelines, quality standards, and business objectives are met.
- Provide technical direction on UI architecture, design patterns, and best practices.
- Review code and design documents to ensure high quality and maintainability.
- Work closely with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver seamless and user-centric interfaces.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training of new UI engineers. Identify skill gaps and provide opportunities for professional growth.
- Define and implement development processes, workflows, and tools to improve efficiency, code quality, and team productivity.
- Set clear goals and expectations for team members, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide constructive feedback.
- Develop and communicate a strategic vision for UI development aligned with business goals and user needs.
- Ensure robust testing, accessibility, and usability standards are met across all UI deliverables.
- Communicate project status, risks, and technical decisions to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in UI/UX. Encourage innovation and continuous improvement within the team.
- Manage team resources, budgets, and vendor relationships as needed.
Required Skills
- Expertise in React and Modern Frontend Technologies: Deep proficiency in React, JavaScript/TypeScript, and related libraries and tools, with a proven track record of building complex, large-scale web applications.
- Architectural Design and Platform Thinking: Strong ability to design and evolve scalable, maintainable, and clean UI architectures, with a platform mindset focused on reusable components, modularity, and long-term sustainability.
- Performance Optimization and Resiliency: Advanced skills in optimizing web application performance, ensuring robustness and resiliency through efficient rendering, state management, and error handling strategies.
- Code Quality, Testing, and Best Practices: Mastery of coding standards, automated testing, code reviews, and best practices for maintainable, high-quality, and accessible UI code.
- Collaboration and Technical Leadership: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience mentoring engineers, driving cross-functional initiatives, and translating business requirements into technical solutions.
