Join our Markets Sales & Research Business Controls Management (BCM) team as a Vice President, where you'll lead the controls oversight of the United Kingdom (UK) Credit Markets Sales and Central Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEEMEA) Markets Sales businesses, with Sales based in the UK, United Arab Emirates (UAE), South Africa, France, Germany, Saudi Arabia and Nigeria. As a Markets Sales Business Control Manager within our Markets Sales & Research BCM team, you will be responsible for the risk and control environment of the UK Credit Markets Sales and CEEMEA Markets Sales businesses. Reporting to the global sales lead BCM for Credit and Public Finance, you will lead the development and implement supervisory controls, manage risk events, and drive process improvements. Your role involves collaborating with stakeholders across functions to ensure effective control governance and reporting.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of procedures on Front Office Supervision and build Supervisory controls, facilitating their execution and exception management.
- Establish control governance and reporting to identify meaningful metrics and manage control committees.
- Progress and own multiple projects with varying delivery timeframes.
- Assess risks, develop requirements, and communicate effectively while identifying areas for efficiency improvements.
- Partner with colleagues to drive consistent operational risk practices and control programs.
- Achieve stakeholder buy-in and build partnerships across functions for deliverables.
- Communicate effectively throughout project and control lifecycles, ensuring stakeholders are informed.
- Represent Front Office interests in control and regulatory initiatives, sharing best practices.
- Manage 1st line of defence responsibilities, including risk event data occurrences and control-related due diligence.
- Manage regulatory, audit, and compliance testing activities, adhering to the Operational Risk Management Framework.
- Directly support senior sales managers at regional and Line of Business management meetings and controls governance forums.
Required Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrable experience in network building, cross-functional collaboration, and influencing.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) with the ability to develop compelling presentations.
- Strong leadership, project management, and organizational skills.
- Investigative mindset with the ability to see issues at both a strategic and detailed level.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process re-engineering skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong team player with excellent partnering and influencing skills.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities:
- Understanding of Markets, including end-to-end product lifecycle and EMEA regulations (e.g., MIFID).
- Experience in operations, operational risk management, business controls, sales, trading, audit, technology, business management, or compliance.
- Knowledge of derivatives and securities products through their product lifecycle.
