As an Emerging Markets Credit Trader in the Global Credit Trading team, you will play a central role in market making across credit derivatives, sovereign, and corporate bonds, contributing to one of J.P. Morgan's most prominent and high-impact trading franchises. You will manage risk across a broad portfolio of products while working closely with sales and research colleagues to deliver liquidity and insight to our global client base, which includes banks, insurance companies, mutual funds, and hedge funds. Your work will be integral to sustaining and growing our position as a leading market maker in the Emerging Markets credit space.
Job responsibilities
- Make markets in Sovereign, Quasi-Sovereign, and Corporate bonds and credit default swaps (CDS) across Emerging Markets.
- Monitor and actively manage existing trade inventory across both cash and CDS positions on an ongoing basis.
- Execute book running and risk management solutions to optimize portfolio performance.
- Engage with sales teams and clients to provide axes, market colour, and actionable trading ideas.
- Collaborate with traders, sales professionals, and research analysts to generate ideas and support secondary market activity.
- Contribute to the growth and development of the EM Credit franchise by identifying new opportunities and strengthening client relationships.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Proven experience in credit trading within a financial institution.
- In-depth knowledge of the Emerging Markets credit landscape, including sovereign, quasi-sovereign, and corporate instruments.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess and manage risk across complex trading positions and market events.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients, sales teams, and internal stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in an analytical discipline such as Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
- Ability to thrive under competitive pressure while maintaining a strong focus on client needs.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a fast-paced, open trading environment.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience trading Emerging Markets credit derivatives, including CDS indices, exotics, and illiquid credits.
- Familiarity with distressed bonds and trade claims within the Emerging Markets context.
- Established relationships with institutional investors active in Emerging Markets.
- Experience mentoring or supporting the development of junior team members.
This role encompasses the performance of UK regulated activity. The successful candidate will therefore be subject to meeting UK regulatory requirements in the assessment of fitness, propriety, knowledge and competence (as assessed by the Firm) and (where appropriate) approval by the UK Financial Conduct Authority and/or the Prudential Regulation Authority to carry out such activities.
