As a Senior Design Director, Creative Studio at JPMorgan Chase within the Design & Customer Experience team, you will lead a world-class in-house Creative Studio, directing a multi-disciplinary team of designers and copywriters to deliver market-leading creative work across the UK, Germany and wider Europe in line with the firm’s expansion plans.
Partnering closely with Marketing leadership and key business stakeholders, you will ensure every creative output is strategically aligned, brand-consistent, and built to resonate with customers across every channel and touchpoint. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer with a matrix alignment to the MD of Design and Design organisation, you will sit at the intersection of brand strategy and customer experience — championing creative excellence and driving meaningful impact at scale. You will be at the forefront of harnessing AI technologies that can help to increase the velocity, scale and impact of creative output whilst ensuring we maintain the highest quality standards and follow ethical principles that maintain trust in our brands. Job responsibilities
- Lead and inspire a multi-disciplinary team of designers and copywriters, cultivating a strong collaborative culture across an international, multi-market Creative Studio.
- Define and drive creative direction across all channels and formats — including social, digital, display, email, video, print, television, radio, and event branding — ensuring alignment with brand guidelines and business strategy.
- Own the full creative lifecycle, from initial brief and concept development through to final production and sign-off, maintaining the highest standards of quality at every stage.
- Collaborate closely with Brand, Marketing, Product Design, Research, and Content teams to align brand expression with product experience and evolving customer needs.
- Direct and manage relationships with external agency partners across the UK and Germany, providing clear creative direction and ensuring all outputs meet brand and quality standards.
- Communicate creative concepts and design rationale with clarity and conviction to senior stakeholders, including the Chief Marketing Officer and market CEOs.
- Champion firmwide accessibility standards across all creative outputs, ensuring every deliverable meets required guidelines.
- Monitor emerging creative trends, technologies, and consumer media behaviours across financial services and adjacent industries, bringing innovative and forward-thinking approaches to the studio.
- Ensure all creative materials comply with relevant legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements across all applicable markets and channels.
- Build and sustain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, providing effective creative guidance and continuously elevating the quality and impact of work produced.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on marketing creative concepts and 10+ years applied experience.
- Extensive experience in a senior creative leadership role — such as Senior Art Director, Creative Director, or equivalent — within a creative agency or in-house design studio.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop multi-disciplinary creative teams, including experience managing, mentoring, and growing talent in an international or multi-market context.
- Proven track record of delivering brand, campaign, social, and digital creative work at scale, supported by a strong portfolio evidencing visual design excellence and brand stewardship.
- Deep expertise in creative strategy, with the ability to translate complex business and marketing objectives into compelling, audience-focused creative solutions.
- Proficiency with industry-standard creative tools, including Figma and the Adobe Creative Suite.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate creative vision and rationale persuasively to senior and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, agile environment, with meticulous attention to detail and strong project management practices.
- Solid understanding of accessibility standards and legal and regulatory requirements applicable to creative and marketing materials across multiple markets.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience leading creative work across multiple international markets, with particular familiarity with UK and European consumer audiences.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies and trends within the marketing and creative landscape, including AI-assisted design tools and evolving digital content formats.
- Experience working within or alongside financial services brands, with an understanding of the regulatory and compliance context for marketing communications.
- Demonstrated ability to bridge brand and product experience, collaborating with user experience, research, and content design disciplines to create cohesive and consistent customer journeys.
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
