A Lead Business Analyst / Product Owner within the Climate Risk Technology team will lead communication and alignment between Climate Risk Modelling & Analytics teams. Based in London and working closely with local and global stakeholders, the role will deliver regulatory‑compliant, data‑driven solutions that embed climate risk into the firm's decision‑making and reporting. You will translate UK and EU regulatory requirements (data and technology expectations) and business objectives into clear product roadmaps, prioritised requirements, and acceptance criteria. You will work across users and stakeholders in Risk and Modelling & Analytics to build scalable, auditable capabilities that support capital planning, disclosures, and portfolio steering. This role is key to enabling the build and maintenance of a robust, scalable infrastructure that operationalises climate risk insights across the firm—removing manual bottlenecks and embedding risk analytics into core business processes. While an understanding of climate risk data and processes is advantageous, the successful candidate will be analytically strong, intellectually curious, and comfortable ramping quickly across multiple projects and subject areas. This role is not responsible for developing climate models; it is responsible for product ownership and requirements that enable model outputs and data to be operationalised at scale.
Job Responsibilities
- Partner with users to define product vision and roadmap for Climate Risk capabilities, ensuring alignment with UK/EU regulatory frameworks (e.g., PRA, FCA) and business goals.
- Partner with London-based users and stakeholders to capture, refine, and prioritise business and data requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate with modelers and data engineers to operationalise climate risk metrics and scenarios, ensuring data lineage, controls, and explainability for regulatory and business reporting.
- Manage and prioritise the product backlog, run Agile ceremonies, and deliver iterative value in accordance with local norms and regulatory deadlines.
- Drive risk and quality: embed validation checks, model governance, documentation, and audit readiness; coordinate UAT and sign‑offs with business and risk owners.
- Coordinate cross‑functional stakeholders (Risk, Finance, Sustainability, Technology, Data Governance, Compliance) in London and globally to resolve dependencies and inform trade‑offs.
- Monitor product KPIs/OKRs (coverage, timeliness, user adoption, data quality, scenario stability) and implement improvements to enhance reliability and scalability.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement across distributed and local teams.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- 7+ years of experience in business analysis and/or product ownership delivering complex, data‑intensive risk or regulatory technology solutions in large financial organisations, ideally within the UK.
- Strong knowledge of climate risk, physical and transition risk drivers, climate scenarios, stress testing, portfolio analytics, and UK/EU regulatory disclosure frameworks (e.g., PRA, FCA, NGFS, EBA).
- Proven ability to translate regulations and policy into actionable requirements and controls with end‑to‑end traceability and audit‑ready documentation.
- Advanced stakeholder and user engagement skills, including experience facilitating workshops and aligning senior stakeholders in London and across EMEA.
- Experience with Agile delivery and product management practices, including backlog management, story writing, prioritisation frameworks, and iterative release planning.
- Technical fluency with data pipelines, data quality frameworks, and vendor solutions; familiarity with lineage, metadata, and control design for risk reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to decompose complex business and data problems into clear deliverables and testable acceptance criteria.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with UK/EU climate risk scenario data and models (e.g., NGFS, Integrated Assessment Models, Catastrophe Models), integration with capital planning or enterprise stress testing processes.
- Familiarity with model governance, validation, and explainability workflows for climate or risk models, including user documentation and training.
- Knowledge of data and visualization tools used for risk analytics and regulatory disclosures; experience collaborating on data schemas, APIs, and user experience design.
