JPMorganChase’s Centre for Carbon Transition (CCT) team leads target-setting and management of the firmwide portfolio-level carbon intensity targets, green financing goal, and Energy Supply Financing Ratio (ESFR). In this role, the team provides transition insights for senior leadership and our clients in the Corporate & Investment Bank and Commercial Banking. As a Vice President, you will bring decarbonisation / transition expertise to support the broader mandate of CCT in advising the firm on the energy transition outlook and evaluating and engaging with clients on their decarbonisation strategies. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a strong analytical/quantitative base and excellent attention to detail, working closely with the London-based CCT team (and partnering with colleagues in New York) and interfacing with internal counterparts across the firm as well as with clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stay current on and deliver high-quality analysis and materials related to the latest decarbonisation and transition finance trends
  • Evaluate clients’ transition strategies and credibility of decarbonization plans
  • Own quantitative client and portfolio carbon analytics, assessing carbon performance at both the individual transaction level and across industry portfolios
  • Translate quantitative and qualitative outputs into executive-ready recommendations for stakeholder engagement and senior forums
  • Work closely with the CCT London and New York-based teams

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • University degree in a relevant field (e.g., finance, energy / environmental economics, sustainability)
  • 6+ years of experience in a relevant energy / decarbonization / sustainability / climate role
  • Robust understanding of banking products, internal decision-making and governance processes, and commercial judgment
  • Strong command of carbon accounting concepts and practical application to corporates (scopes, boundaries, data limitations, and interpretability)
  • Ability to convey information clearly, accurately and succinctly (both written and verbally)
  • Excellent analytical skills (including proficiency in Excel, working with large datasets and third-party sources such as Bloomberg) and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to draft high quality presentations and documentation; strong attention to detail and self-starter mindset

Role Characteristics

The role may involve limited travel and offers exposure to a broad spectrum of industries across multiple asset classes and geographies, with significant interaction across internal stakeholders and external clients.
